This feature is available on iOS in WhatsApp version 2.19.20, this update is available in App Store you can update your app to use this if you haven’t done yet. First spotted on 9to5.
Even after the update, iPhone users still can preview the messages from WhatsApp notifications and can reply. But the full functionalities will be available after the authentication. Moreover, functionalities like replies to voice and video calls can still be done without unlocking your app.

This feature has been the part of the beta program on Android but yet to roll out for all. A recent report said that WhatsApp users on Android can add the security layer through the fingerprint sensor. Considering the poor security standards, it’s unlikely FaceID support will come for Android users.
