Federal Finance Minister Asad Umar said that he was ready to catch up the next flight to meet PayPal CEO to convince him to come to Pakistan. Considering the need of online payment system to promote IT sector and to bring Paypal Pakistan.
In an online interview with PTI social media regarding Paypal Pakistan he stated that:
Either Paypal or any other alternate virtual payment system like paypal but in the next four months or so. We should have an internationally acceptable payment gateway such as paypal for the surging number of startups in Pakistan
Furthermore he said that:
I have met Prime Minister of the country Imran Khan and IT minister in the past few days. To make sure we are moving in the right direction in this regard. If Paypal cannot come to Pakistan, then there must be an alternative of this somewhere in the world should be.
Featuring the potential of Pakistani online market, Federal Finance Minister said that “I am ready to catch a flight and go meet Paypal chief and ask why he’s leaving such a big market on the ground.”
Moreover, Considering the stoppage of spectrum sales in Pakistan, Asad Umar said that :
Spectrum sale has been shut down. Only 124 MHz spectrum has been opened by Pakistan. Even Myanmar has a higher number than 400 MHz. Why are we still holding on to it? This is not a finite resource that would end or could end.
