Today I have great news for those who are looking to downgrade iOS and downgrading for jailbreaking or for lower versions just because of stability and so on. Finally, the Downgrade FutureRestore has been updated and it works fine for FaceID devices as well which was not available in previous versions of FutureRestore.
Southwes posted this below at his twitter account

This version 222 is now available and adds support for restoring devices with FaceID. FaceID devices could not be restored for a long time if you do that it might work but it will break FaceID functionality on your device and you wouldn’t be able to use it.
Downgrade FutureRestore FaceId Devices
These are the devices which support FaceID and of course, it’s a big thing if FaceID stops working on your device.
- iPhone XR
- iPhone XS Max
- iPhone XS Max (China)
- iPhone XS
- iPhone X
- iPhone X (Global)
These devices have the hardware for FaceID, but for the longest time, this couldn’t have been restored if you save blobs because it’d break the FaceID. Finally, Southwes has updated downgrade futurerestore to work with these devices as well. Now there is only one problem about futurerestore, for those who do not know, futurerestore is a downgrade tool for iOS.
This is the link to the tool and updated version is only compatible with MacOS and there is no compiled version for windows for this version. And the latest update available for windows is available as a version 2.0.1 which does not contain the fixes for the FaceID. If you’re running windows then you may need to set up a virtual box for setting up MacOS or just find a Mac.
There will be a Linux version for downgrade futurerestore I think because there were Linux versions in the past more often than windows. But for now, only the Mac version is available and yes it finally supports the blobs for FaceID devices. In my view, this is a very important step towards proper downgrade iOS. Because if you remember, Futurerestore tool was introduced in 2016. Up to that point, the newer devices were not known to be restorable to the older version which is no longer signed.
