A new voice phishing scam has been discovered, if email phishing scams were not enough. This is especially targeting the iPhone users by making calls to them which seem like to be coming from Apple Support.
A user Jody West by reported about a call asking her to call back on the same number. The contact info showing over seemed to be coming from Apple Inc, according to TechCrunch. However, When she called back, she said. The automated system answered followed by a man with the accent of an Indian man inquiring about the reason for the call.
When she told that she was alerted about a breach at Apple and was asked to call on Apple support, the call was disconnected after few moments. It’s certainly another case of a phishing scam to snatch personal or financial information from the users.
It’s preferable not to answer such voice phishing calls as Apple support team will never call you proactively if something goes wrong with your iPhone.
